Organic Certification Requirements | Organic Certification California | USDA Organic Certification

You have done your home work on labeling of organic products and certification bodies to make decisions. What now? Each certification agency handles the certification of anything more to come, but the basic steps are the same among all U.S. certificate.

1) Application: certification bodies for an application with application fee to start. To a certain certification, this petition is a complete set of documents. For many people it is an easy application to get you into their system so they can begin to give you the help you need.

2) Organic System Plan (OSP): This may have different names, depending on the certification, but generally consist of the same information.
And will most likely be a lot of documents, especially in the first year.

OSP is exactly as its name suggests - it is a slow how biological systems.
OSP for growers will consist of questions about the field, one record in the region, while the second material is prohibited in the area, the risk of infection (such as running water from the field rather than organic, and so on), but also the question of storage, control of the destroyer, and more . For processors, manufacturers, warehouses and not farmers, OSP-related materials that could come into contact with organic products, the process used in the manufacture of products, all organic materials and their status are used in completing the product, etc.

Although this is the first year of long documents, required by the USDA NOP and fuller is when the first corner, the whole process will be less work.

3) 1 Note: The document will be reviewed to perfection, and certification bodies that must be followed by you if anything is not, so that all information in their offices before the hearing.

4) Examination: You will receive on-site inspection operations.
Site examinations conducted by examiners who are experts in your type of operation and is only intended for monitoring the information provided in the OSP are cautious. Sometimes the examiner will collect soil samples are needed, or if he fails to input a label certifying agency, or other things when he / she deems necessary in the delivery of your certificate.

5) 2: After the examination, your certification will call you on something that does not comply with the NOP regulations. Make sure you are kept away. Often he is just waiting for something needs to send (tag, water analysis, or explanation of the answer in OSP) is not available for certifiers.

6) Advanced Research: Sometimes a list of 3 or 4 will be required, especially if some of the things that are asked after seeing the two. Research each one will allow you to know nothing of the two studies should be addressed or explained.

7) Certificate: After everything is appropriate, you will receive your certificate.
Make sure you are meeting back a certificate of truth. If there is something missing or incorrect, immediately contact your certifier.
This saves a lot of mistakes, and it may save you money as well, for an everlasting certification soon.
